In Korea for some strange reason I have been getting really bad breakouts on places where I have never gotten acne on, is around my jawline, chin and cheeks. The redness of the blemishes was never really fading away, it seems like it takes much longer to heal than my usual ones. I think my acnes were either caused by stress from studying or the environment, if not it must have been related to hormones or something.

Due to the fact that nature republic discontinued my favourite Bee Venom Cream so I decided to get my hands on the recently launch range, as it was on 50% sale.

First of all I really like the simple packaging of the slight transparent brown jar, alongside with a black lid, it makes it looks so classy like some natural professional brand (belif or fresh). Inside it came with a plastic seal like typical Korean brands very hygienic.

To my surprise the smell was actually very similar to the bee venom line except it is more soothing and less fragranted.

The texture of the cream is really hard to describe at first I thought it will be watery like a typical gel cream, however it was nothing like that. The cream itself is definitely more stiff and it feels like it will lock in the moisture better than most gel cream. The texture of it somewhat resembles to waxes or perhaps Doctorcos cream but thicker.

After applying it on it is definitely not sticky unlike gel cream where it seems like everything is gone after absorption, this does leave a layer of ‘something’ on but that layer does not create rubbery shred when mix with other products. But somehow makeup doesn’t sit well on the face after applying this cream on, or maybe I was just in a rush to put my make up on before letting the cream itself sink into my face.

Referring back to what it claims, it definitely helps with soothing the redness on my skin and it actually does not irritate my eczema skin but rather calms it down, preventing it from being itchy. As for the radiant part I didn't see much of a result on that maybe I have to use it for much longer to see.

Will I repurchase the product?
I will repurchase this product if my skin is on a very sensitive state because I think this really works, I would recommend this to people who suffers from sensitive skin and need hydration because this is definitely more hydrating then a typical gel cream

Overall rating:

Hygiene 4.5/5

[Review] Doctorcos Amino Acid Hybrid Sheet Free Mask Advanced

The worst thing to ever do is forget your own moisturiser on your trip! So I went to Korea without my cosmetics, so I was in need of something moisturising as it was winter (snowing) in Korea. So I ended up shopping at some random discount store, and asking for some recommendation, the sales person ended up recommending me this cream.

This cream claims to:
" This new beauty technology  allows a three layer effect to ensure the skin is  provided with nutrients, skin pore tightening effects, increased elasticity, intensive moisturising and incredible hydration capibilities to give a soft, youthful, dewy glow. No need for extra serums. This all in one product does it all!"

"Alcohol Free, Ammonia Free, Cruelty Free, Fragrance Free, Silicon Free, Formaldehyde Free and Contain Minerals"

Ingredients:
Water, Cyclomethicone, Butylene Glycol, PEG-32, Dimethicone, Vinyl Dimethicone Crossopolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Niacinamide, Alcohol, Cetyl PEG, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Sodium Chloride, Betaine, Raffinose, Velvet Extract, Ganoderma Lucidum Stem Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Asparagus Cochinchinensis Root Extract, Astagalus membranaceus, Ceramide 3, Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Fragrance, Disodium EDTA, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Hydrolyzed collagen, Human Oligopeptide-1., Hydrolyzed Royal Jelly Protein, Copper Tripeptide-1

[I am not sure if this is the exact ingredient list as I found this on the net]

Directions:

  • Day Cream
  • Apply a 1-2mm layer of cream all over the face. This cream can also be used under make-up for a smoother application
  •  Makeup + Cream
  • You can also blend this cream with BB cream or foundation at a 8:2 ratio. (8 being the foundation or BB cream and 2 as the doctorcos cream)
  • Sleeping Mask
  • Massage a 2-3mm layer of the cream on the face and neck then sleep with it. Rinsing is not necessary, but if you like you can rinse it off in the morning.

Cost: 15,000 won
Size: 110 ml (but i know it comes in a tube form which is 60g)

This product is highly raved about in Asia, however I totally was not aware of this trend when I was purchasing this product.

The packaging of this product is nothing fancy just something really simple, however is not very hygienic as it is in a jar form and it did not come with a mini spatula/ spoon. On the other hand it did come  with a plastic sealing cap to prevent dust and germs :D

Sorry about the wrong order of this picture

The texture of this cream is very lightweight and is white in colour, but it is kinda half transparent, so it doesn't look entirely white, more to a "milky" look, is really hard to describe the texture but is similar to a gel cream, or perhaps silicone primers (however this product does not contain silicone), this texture is not sticky at all and very refreshing and fast absorption.

As you are blending out the cream onto your face, it forms water droplets, this helps to lock in your moisture.

After this cream settles in your face, it creates a barrier over your skin, however that barriers is not like a film texture, so you can definitely feel safe if you are intending to apply make up after using this product.

The scent is very refreshing and mild, it smells kinda similar to a citrus scent.
(Is really hard describing the scent T.T)

I think this product is not very effective as it is not hydrating enough, especially if you live in dry environment like Australia or the harsh snowing winter in Korea. But perhaps if you live in hot humid country like Malaysia this will be a very nice product as it is not sticky. However if you work in an air conditioned environment I don't think purely relying on this cream will be sufficient. I would recommend this product to mainly people with normal skin, but for people with oily skin is worth trying in humid and hot weather. As for dry skin, I don't think I will recommend this product to you guys.

My general thoughts on this product is that  it is not very effective as  I did not see my pores minimizing, as well as other factors it claims to do such as improving skin elasticity, intense moisturising and dewy youthful glow. I kinda think this product is over raved.

Although this product is quite cheap but I don't think I will repurchase it as I did not see any effects on my skin,

[Review] Tony Moly Pocket Bunny Sleek+Moist Mist

Changing seasons =="
After going into puberty, changing season is not a big problem to me, all I get is just oily skin, but recently during the seasonal changes my skin get so tight and dry however my T-zone area is still oily T^T.

Due to the fact I am running out of moisturizer so I decided to purchase  Tony Moly pocket bunny mist since I heard a lot of good reviews about it!

The Tony Moly Pocket Bunny Mist have two version one is sleek (white) and one is moist (pink)

Directions: Close your eyes and spray the product at about 20cm away from the face. Make sure that the mist covers the entire face. Pat gently. *Note: This product can be used with or without makeup.

Cost:  approx 7.80 USD (I bought it on ebay for $10.00 USD)
Product Size: 60 mL

I purchase both versions since  I thought the sleek version is more suitable for my skin type as it is targeted at people who have oily skin, however due to the seasonal changes I find the product too drying and tight for my skin, so I repurchase the moist one instead.
Firstly I will talk about the Sleek Mist:
I think it will be very good to use during summer because it really controls my oil and set my make up. Usually my make up without setting it with powder or a fixer it will last around 3 hours then it will start melting. But after using the Sleek Mist it lasted me for a whole school day (6 hours+) not only that but I highly think is very suitable for summer because it smells so fresh as oppose to the Moist Mist where it gives off a sweet aroma!

Secondly I will talk about the Moist Mist:
This mist is targeted for people with dry skin! As I have previously stated this mist gives off a sweet scent as I compare it with the Sleek Mist where the scent is fresh! The mist itself is less drying, so if you have combination skin during autumn or winter I will recommend you with the moist mist because it doesn't tighten my skin like the sleek one. Sadly this product is not as hydrating as I thought it will be, but it does ease the tightness in my skin and it does moisten it up a bit. For those of you if you are wondering if it will sets the make up for hours all I can say is I haven't tested it out yet so I can't give you a truthful comment on that.

Overall, the packaging is really cute and adorable, it looks less plain than normal mist and also because is so small (approx 12cm) it is very convenient for me to carry out on the streets in my bag! :D. The pump of the product is very efficient unlike the Etudehouse Aloe Vera Soothing Gel where is a bit dodgy haha XD. However I notice something different about the two when you spray it in your face. When you spray the sleek mist on your face it feels very light, as if you are walking in the fog (is that even the right way to describe it), as opposed to the moist mist where when I sprayed it, I feel bigger particles like droplet of water on my face!

Comparison picture of the two mists the moist mist looks like it has more power than the sleek mist therefore the particles are bigger as it has more force

Overall Rating for Sleek Mist:
Texture 4.5/5
Smell 4.5/5
Packaging 5/5
Effectiveness: 4/5
Hygiene 5/5

[Review] Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream claims to:
A non–oily, quickly absorbed hydrator that visibly reduces the appearance of oil and leaves skin looking and feeling more balanced.
  • Visibly reduce excess oil on skin’s surface
  • Re-balances skin barrier for a smoother, fresher appearance
  • Contains Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract, Antarcticine, and Cucumber Fruit Extract
  • Oil–free, paraben–free, fragrance–free, colorant–free

Product Size: 50 mL

Cost: $26.50 USD

Ingredients: aqua / water, glycerin, alcohol denat., propanodiol, glycereth-26, isononyl isononanoate, ammonium polyacryldimethyltauramide / ammonium polyacryloyldimethyl taurate, imperata cylindrica root extract, phenoxyethanol, sodium benzoate, propylene glycol, potassium sorbate, sodium hyaluronate, pseudoaltteromonas ferment extract, citric acid, caprylyl glycol, carbomer, biosaccharide gum-i, panthenol, cucumis sativus juice / cucumber fruit extract, acrylates /c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer

Direction: Apply to cleansed and toned facial skin day and night

The first time I ever used this product was after I tried their blue herbal line, this product was given by my cousin because she didn't think this was hydrating enough for her since she has relatively dry skin. My skin is rather oily and acne prone, so I always look out for gel cream type of product. This jar is my second jar of this product you can tell from the picture above that I almost ran out of it. I would love to repurchase it again but it is a bit too expensive for a student, so I only use it once in a while, (mostly use it in winter). I swear this product is awesome, you know when your skin gets too dry from acne cream or the weather and you get fine crack/ dry skin, after applying this cream and wake up next morning the fine line immediately disappear, so awesome~!

Is sad knowing that alcohol is the third main content in this product, but strangely this product is even more hydrating than the Mizon Acence Blemish Control Soothing Gel Cream which I have previously reviewed Neutrogena hydro boost water gel. This product is definitely one of the most hydrating gel cream I have used!

Talking about the packaging, this product is not as good as the korean products. Because this product does not have a plastic film that seals and it does not provide a spatula, which means I have to dip my finger into the jar of cream ==". But to be honest the spatula did not work very well in the gel cream because the gel cream is really light weighted and runny.

When you applied it onto your skin it is very easy to blend it out and all over your face, the product is also super duper light weighted, and it gets absorb into my skin really quickly. However there is a very natural herb like scent to it. I am certain that the cream does not have artificial fragrant but is hard to describe what it smells like, it just smell so original and raw is that even the right way to describe creams?!?!!? haha

after applying it for 1 minute

Will I repurchase this product?  Until I can find a cheaper product that works just as great as this one then I will consider not repurchase it. But NOW Of course I will repurchase it! But I will only purchase it once in a while since is kinda pricey, but this product is awesome because it is non comedogenic so that means it won't clog my pores (reduce my chance of getting acne). I would say this is my holy grail during winter time haha. I will recommend this to people who have acne prone, oily and normal skin. For people with dry skin, I think you need something more hydrating than this :D

[Review] Etude House Skin Malgem: Smoother

Another product from Korea, this is another product I purchase from Etude House because it was endorse by SHINee haha XD *jokes*

It cost : approx. 12 USD (12,000 won)
Product Size: 250mL

Well that was not my main reason though, I was really sick (I was on the verge of fainting) the day we went shopping around the cosmetic stores so I just kinda grab this toner off the shelf because the advertisement for this product was really good and also I did some research on this products and there were a lot of good reviews. (Some people claim that this is a dupe of SK-II, to be honest I am not pretty sure if it is one since I have never tried SK-II myself)

So I ended up purchasing this product, since I was in need of a toner :D.

Etude House Skin Malgem: Smoother claims to:

  •  Keeping your skin clean and smooth while having a smooth skin as the fruit acid in this product exfoliates your skin
  • Removes residual build up and tightens pores to prevent acne and pimples

Malgem is a korean word for clean-ness, clarity and pureness. Skin Malgeum hypoallergenic toners promote clean, clear and pure complexion with moisturizing and pore cleansing formulas.

Direction: Dispense solution onto toner pad and use pad to wipe all areas of face and neck.

Caution:For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of reach of children. Discontinue use it signs of irritation and/or rash appear.

Ingredients:
credit: Lynn Greyrose's blog

I really like this product it come ins a really fancy packaging and the product was sealed too! Which was good so I know is new for sure XD.

Typical toner/ watery consistency

It was really easy to get the product onto a cotton pad to apply it on my face. (Some products take so long to pour out the product or either too much of the products come out ==")
When I applied it on my face the scent of the product was not overwhelming, it was rather nice and fresh. It makes my face feel clean and fresh!
After patting it onto my skin
After leaving it dry for 1-2 minutes
I must say this is a really good toner to switch to after using the kiehl's blue herbal toner for a while (kiehl's one was starting to get really dry on my face T^T). I think this is a good option to change to during winter months and when your skin no longer suffer from really bad breakouts, this product does not dry out your face and it does what it claims to do leaving my skin complexion "smooth and clean". But  for the tightening pore part I don't know if it actually did that I mean it wasn't extremely obvious that my pores reduce in size but I think it did actually reduce by a little. Maybe the tightening effect will be seen if I tried leaving it on as a mask or put it on a cotton pad for 30 minutes!
There is actually various ways of using this product, which is one of the main reason why I purchased it! You can:
  • Apply it as a Toner
  • Soak the product onto a cotton pad and leave on your face for 30 minutes
  • Or purchase mask sheet set from the malgem line and pour 15mL of the product onto the mask sheet and then you can just put it on your face
  • Or spray it as a mist
I just love how much you can do with one single product! :D

This product is lasting very long I started using it since last year and I am only around half way through the product right now!

I will definitely repurchase this product! And people who so suffer from Acne or oily skin I definitely recommend you to buy it!

Overall rating:

[Review] Etude House Aloe Moistfull Soothing Gel

I purchase the Etude House Aloe Moistfull Soothing Gel while I went to Korea last year! So I have decided to write a review after using it for several months!

Etude Moistfull Aloe Soothing Gel claims to:

"The soothing Gell containing enriched Baobab Tree extracts and Organi Aloe, supplies instant moisture to the skin with refreshing feel"

Ingredients:
Water, Butylene Glycol, Aloe Barbadenisis leaf extract, Adansonia Digitata fruit extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavendar) flower water, Anthemis nobilis flower extract, Ethylhexyglycerin, Polsorbate 20, Carbomer, Tomethamine, Benzophenone-5, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, Yello 5 (Cl 19140), Blue 1 (Cl 42090)

Direction: Apply Soothing Gel after washing your face or body with gentle massage. Apply when you feel extreme dryness or soothe sensitive skin, adding gel on skin whenever you need.

The product is: 150 mL (But apparently there are 3 sizes 10, 150 or 300 mL)
Cost: $11 USD (A very affordable price)

The design of the product is quite simple nothing too fancy or too boring which I quite like and it come in a pump, which make a more hygienic because I don't have to dab my fingers into the jar of cream/ gel.

After blending in the soothing gel

The texture of the gel is clear  and a light weighted and watery consistency, which makes it very easy to spread and absorb. The product is not sticky at all after using it my skin feel so hydrated and fresh! The aloe soothing gel does not make my face feel oily after hours of using it. It actually calms my blemishes as well.
After leaving it for 1-2 minutes

The scent of it is really nice and refreshing is not too artificial or concentrated.
I will definitely repurchase this product after I run out of it, highly recommend my readers.
to buy it because there is so much function to it. The downside of this product is the pump it does not work as well as I imagined it to. Like when I pressed it the gel kinda splatter everywhere, so I have to be very gently when using the pump.

Function of the product:

You can put it over your face for 5-10 minutes before make up to calm you blemishes.
Is good to use it during summer to because it can cool you down by (-2 degrees) while keeping you hydrated!

Even though this is another product from the line but I also tried doing the same thing with this product and it works perfectly my fingers immediately stop cracking :D
(Finally I can have nice fingers during winter haha)

You can also use it to stop your hair from getting frizzy and keeping them looking silky, this also work with styling your hair like making you hair stay intact.
Overall rating:
Texture 5/5
Smell 4/5
Packaging 3/5
Effectiveness: 4/5
Hygiene 4/5
